Privacy Policy

CiteGauge ("we", "us") operates the website citegauge.com and the CiteGauge — AI Visibility application for Shopify. This policy explains what data we collect and how we use it. Questions: hello@citegauge.com.

What we collect

• Audit inputs. The brand name, website domain, industry description, and competitor names you submit — or, for the Shopify app, your store name, primary domain, and product information read from your store to generate relevant shopper queries.
• Audit results. The questions we generate, the public answers returned by AI assistants, and the derived scores, mentions, and cited sources.
• Email address, when you submit one to receive a report, subscribe, or contact us.
• Basic technical data such as IP address, used for rate limiting and abuse prevention, and standard server logs.

How we use it

• To generate and deliver your AI visibility audit and reports.
• To run scheduled monitoring and send you the reports and change alerts you subscribe to.
• To operate, secure, and improve the service, and to respond to your messages.
• With your consent (implied by requesting a report), to send occasional score updates and product tips. Every such email includes a one-click unsubscribe.

AI processing & sub-processors

To run an audit we send your generated questions to third-party AI providers (including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Perplexity, via the Vercel AI Gateway) and analyze their public answers. We use these processors to operate the service: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Resend (transactional email), Stripe (payments), and Google Workspace (email). We do not sell your personal data.

Shopify data

When you install the Shopify app, we access your store's name, domain, and product catalog (read-only) solely to generate relevant audits. We do not access orders, customers, or payment data. Uninstalling the app stops all access; you may request deletion of your stored audit data at any time.

Retention & your rights

We keep audit and account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your data by emailing hello@citegauge.com. We will respond within a reasonable time.

We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by the "last updated" date above.
